Savanna LOVES playdough. It is the one thing that will keep her entertained for hours and hours. I used to buy playdough at the store, but she would leave it somewhere (like in her play kitchen oven because she was cooking it) and it would get hard or mix the colors constantly. And there is only so long that I can look at that ugly brown playdough color when everything is mixed.
So I started making my own and it’s been great. I’ve found that it last longer than store bought as well.
- 1/2 cup flour
- 8 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1.5 tsp vegetable oil
- few drops of food coloring
Mix all ingredients in a small pot or pan on the stove. Once all the ingredients are mixed, turn the stove on medium and start stirring. Keep stirring until the ball of playdough forms and remove from heat. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container.
