It has been so long since I have written a blog post! I don’t know how full time homeschooling, blogging mamas do it. But here I am, back again, with a short update on where we are.
Back in the middle of June, we found out we were pregnant. It has been a rough 8 months. I have been sick the entire time – taking Diclegis from week 8 until almost the end. But the end is in sight now! Today is my due date but with no sign of her arriving, I was scheduled to be induced on Monday. We are so excited to meet our rainbow baby.
As far as preschool, Savanna has been doing amazing at the VPK she is going to every day for a few hours. They have done a kindergarten readiness test with her and she got every single question correct. We are very happy with how she has progressed and how much she loves to learn.
We have not done much, if anything, from our planned Spanish curriculum. I decided to postpone those activities until the summer, or at least until I start feeling better to put things together for her. In the meantime, our learning didn’t stop at home. I picked up some awesome resources from my two favorite Teachers Pay Teachers shops – Kindergarten Smiles and The Moffatt Girls – that I want to share with you.
From The Moffat Girls, I purchased the CVC Fluency, Word Work, and Ready to Read bundles. I don’t do them in any particular order. I have been going through each one and pulling out different pages from each to work on each time. I love the sight words. Instead of making a bulletin board with the words we have learned, I created a journal that we glue everything in instead (below) because we don’t have the wall space for anything else.
Kindergarten Smiles is my go-to store for anything I can think of. Caitlin has different centers and bundles available for so many different themes and months. I can go on to her shop anytime I need something and find exactly what I am looking for. I like her activities mainly because they seem to be for the more advanced kindergartener. I never need to omit activities for being too easy and not engaging enough. We just completed the February Math Center bundle and thoroughly enjoyed it. Math was something we slacked on and these centers have definitely improved Savanna’s math skills.
We will be taking a few weeks off now with baby sister arriving but hopefully I will get back to blogging shortly after that! Let me know if you have any questions on how we use these resources at home!
